Chamonix

(7 nights)

Chamonix has been a centre for alpinists for 200 years. The beautiful surroundings and Mont Blanc make the Chamonix valley one of the most visited places in the world for those who want to access the ultimate nature experience during their holiday.

Chamonix may sound extreme, but don't be discouraged. There is something for everyone! The Chamonix Valley has six separate ski areas with varying degrees of difficulty. Le Tour is a nice area with wide open slopes and in Le Brèvant/Flégère you will find long glorious pistes on the sunny southern slope.

Chamonix
The town with its genuine alpine buildings, its bustling folk life, shops, cafés, good accommodation and restaurants is something out of the ordinary. There are plenty of activities for those who want to try something other than skiing for a day. How about paragliding, ice climbing or why not simply relax for a day of shopping or at the nice bathhouse.

Les Houches
Les Houches is the first village you come to as you enter the Chamonix Valley. Here the skiing is family orientated and the activities are numerous. In recent years, the ski system has been expanded so that you can spend several days trying all the slopes. There is every conceivable service in terms of restaurants and shops.

Argentiére
The village is almost at the end of the valley above Chamonix town. From here the big cable car goes up to Les Grands Montets and this is where you will find much of the challenging skiing. The village has a nice, relaxed atmosphere and you'll find many small shops and restaurants.

Skiing tips
A must for those who are a bit adventurous during their skiing holiday is to go up to the Aiguille du Midi, which is located at 3842 metres. Here you have an outstanding view of the Mont Blanc massif - it's hard to get closer to the sky than this! If you have booked a guide, an unforgettable off-piste trip awaits, for example down the Vallée Blanche valley. The skiing itself is not particularly advanced, but a normal skier can manage well. However, the nature experience is all the more spectacular.

Travelling tips
For those who want a car holiday, it is easy to get to Chamonix by car, the roads are good all the way up to the village. If you choose to fly, we recommend Geneva airport and from there we will be happy to help you rent a car.
