Trips to Blois

Blois is the capital of the Loir-et-Cher region, located in central France, between the cities of Orléans and Tours, approximately 60 km from each. The city is situated on an elevation with steep, winding roads and is beautifully intersected by the Loire River.

In the city center, you'll find excellent shopping, fine dining, museums, stunning attractions, and historical buildings, providing everything one might expect from vibrant city life. About 10 km south of central Blois lies Forêt de Russy, a dense and lovely forest area offering various opportunities for active adventures. You can hike through the beautiful nature or visit the Château de Beauregard. Blois offers both the lively pace of city life and the tranquility of nature.

For museum enthusiasts, there are several options in the city. One notable museum is Maison de la Magie Robert-Houdin (The House of Magician Robert-Houdin). It is the only public museum in Europe devoted to magic and serves as a place for permanent performing arts. The museum's exhibits are directly linked to the French magician Jean-Eugene Robert-Houdin.

The city is best known for its Renaissance château, Château Royal de Blois, located in the heart of Blois. An 18th-century bridge spans the Loire River, connecting to the château. The building was once occupied by King Louis XII and has hosted a total of 7 kings and 10 queens. Today, the château houses both a historical museum and an art museum, with various exhibitions and festivals held during the summer.
