Trips to Duesseldorf

Düsseldorf is the administrative capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, having received its city rights in 1288. From the late 14th century, it was the capital of the County of Berg and from 1614 in the Palatinate. The city owes much to Duke Johann Wilhelm, who resided here between 1690 and 1716.
This European metropolis is one of the Rhineland's most significant industrial and cultural centers and hosts a renowned university, fantastic museums, and theaters. Today, it is also the fashion capital of Germany with many excellent shops. There is much to see in Altstadt (the Old Town).
Königsallee has become a symbol for shopping in elegant Düsseldorf, while the city's modern side is represented by the Gehry buildings in Medienhafen (the media harbor). The historic city center, with over 260 restaurants and pubs, is famous for Rhineland joviality and its top-fermented beer. The first-class museums, theaters, concert halls, and galleries make Düsseldorf an international art and culture metropolis.
