Lamezia Terme consists of three villages: Sambiase, St Eufemia, and Nicastro. These adopted the name Lamezia Terme in 1968. In Sambiase, you'll find the famous thermal baths (terme) offering various treatments such as dermatological and respiratory. Nicastro is home to a beautiful 18th-century cathedral and the ruins of a Norman castle. St Eufemia is the modern part of the city, offering a greater selection of shops and cafes.
A few kilometers from Lamezia Terme, in St Eufemia, lies an eight-kilometer-long sandy beach. This is a popular spot for swimming during the warm summer days. In the backdrop of Lamezia is the Sila mountain range, known for its beautiful lakes and forests.
From Lamezia, it's easy to drive to the east coast or continue south along the coast to the picturesque villages of Pizzo and Tropea, only 35 and 60 kilometers away, respectively. Also worth a visit is the monastery in Serra San Bruno with its museum, beautifully situated in the mountains 60 kilometers from the coast. The journey there is very scenic, with many fresh mountain water springs along the way where you can stop and enjoy.
