You've made your bed and now you have to lie in it ...
At Son Mas Vell, it's easy to do. As you gaze into the starry night sky from a Bali bed by the pool, you'll feel like you're king or queen of everything you overlook. Find a place to relax - the possibilities around the extra-large swimming pool are like something out of a romantic fairytale. Why not enjoy life outside on balmy summer evenings? Even on the hottest days, there is often a gentle breeze up here with a hint of sea air from the east coast. Without a doubt, this is a heavenly place to relax. This mighty villa sits like a fortress on its hill, watching out for visitors approaching from the really quiet Manacor-Son Carrió road and guarding the plain, the land and the animals that live on it. This spacious property with its palm trees, wide lawns and covered terraces with long dining tables in front and behind the house offers countless opportunities for quiet retreats or social gatherings and is ideal for families, couples and groups travelling together but still wanting a little time to themselves. The other buildings on the property, such as the small granary, in no way detract from the idyllic atmosphere of this finca; in fact, they complement and enhance the rural ambience.
The owners of Son Mas Vell have spent several years authentically renovating and lovingly restoring it: the more rustic ground floor, divided in two with doors to the pool and garden, and the more open, elegant upper floor with balcony terrace. If these walls could talk ... Perhaps they would speak to you in your dreams as you retire to one of the six regal double bedrooms (four on the upper floor, together with two bathrooms, two on the ground floor, each with en-suite bathroom). Bathrooms). Small windows, high ceilings, solid wood frames, engraved coats of arms, recessed niches and ornate wardrobes; they all have their own story to tell. For imaginative children, the whole house is an adventure playground.
Adults should also pack a special outfit or two to put on or take off: anything from a caftan to a black tie is possible in the large living room on the upper floor, where you can settle down in the cosy lounge on the landing with patio door Open the door and enjoy the magnificent view, perhaps even to the sound of piano music. There is a second kitchen here for preparing breakfast or tea and coffee, but the real cooking and eating takes place in the lower living area with its long dining table once the barbecue is left cold or in the evening it gets chilly. Then it's time to whisper your (holiday) stories on the walls by the fireplace or chimney ...
Hand on heart, the travel guides may rave about Artà and it's very close to Son Mas Vell, but it shouldn't be the only place on your itinerary. Coats of arms can also tell a story. Manacor may be the town that captures your heart. Attractive patrician houses, palatial buildings such as the Torre dels Enagistes (Jesuit tower, now a museum) and old windmills exude historical charm, while colourful weekly markets, the Mallorca pearl factory, miles of shops and the many restaurants on offer satisfy the needs of the here and now in an island metropolis. The city centre is almost entirely pedestrianised and is therefore ideal for a relaxed stroll. From here, however, trains and buses run in all directions, even to Palma, so you can take your hand off the wheel from time to time, giving you the freedom to take the arm of a loved one... It couldn't be easier: Drive along the Ma-15 and the Ma-4021, and here you'll find Villa Son Mas Vell. Leave the shopping town of Manacor in the direction of Son Carrió and after 4 kilometres you will have reached your destination. A heavenly property awaits you on a hill with panoramic views over the countryside. Inviting natural beaches are just a few kilometres away, either on the east coast in the direction of Porto Cristo and Cala Millor, or further north at Badia Alcúdia.
This is a Fincallorca holiday home.
