Travemünde is a charming traditional seaside and spa resort. Located very close to Lübeck, it offers an interesting contrast to the city.

Often referred to as "Lübeck's beautiful daughter," Travemünde boasts a wide, white sandy beach and has over a 200-year history as a spa town. Its maritime atmosphere is defined by one of Germany's largest Baltic Sea ports and its location at the mouth of the Trave River. Each year, its 14,000 residents welcome more than 140,000 overnight guests.

A significant landmark not to be missed serves as a beacon: the Maritim Tower, Europe's tallest lighthouse, standing over 125 meters high. The lighthouse can be seen from 22 km away and acts as a guide to Lübeck's old town.

The somewhat dreamy little town of Travemünde, with its charming streets and historic facades along the Trave River, has undergone dynamic development in recent years.
