Trips to Stralsund

1 / 16

Upon arriving in Stralsund, you are greeted by the beautiful silhouette of its Gothic churches and other medieval buildings that have shaped the city’s development and made it a popular tourist destination. It’s a delightful experience to stroll through Stralsund's old town or wander down to the harbor to inhale the fresh sea air.

Stralsund boasts a surprisingly large number of historical buildings and charming old streets that have survived many wars over the years. The Gothic town hall and the over 750-year-old St. Nicholas Church stand side by side. During World War II, the church’s altar was dismantled due to air raids and stored in boxes with a nearby farmer. After the war, when the altar was to be reassembled, about 80 figures were missing. The farmer’s children later admitted they had used the “dolls” as toys.

Ozeaneum.

Don’t miss the city’s impressive maritime museum. More information can be found at www.ozeaneum.de.

Hansedom.

One of Germany’s finest water parks is located in Stralsund. It's a wonderful aqua park experience for the whole family. Adults can enjoy a fine spa with a sauna landscape. Book Wyndham Stralsund HanseDom through us, and entry to the water park is included.

Surroundings.

Nearby is Rügen with its unique natural landscape. The Jasmund National Park, known for its white chalk cliffs since the time of Caspar David Friedrich, is located on the northeast side of the island. You can soak up the sun or swim in the Baltic Sea at one of the many beaches. To the east lies the island of Usedom, and to the west, the peninsula of Fischland-Darß-Zingst.

Daily excursion boats leave Stralsund for the island of Hiddensee or to Zingst, part of the amphibious nature reserve of Nationalpark Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft. Here, you can experience one of the country's most beautiful and ecologically significant areas.

The "Bodden" landscape between Fischland-Darß-Zingst and Hiddensee is one of the few preserved natural coastal areas in Central Europe that are constantly changing. Nowhere else do steep and low coastlines, land tongues like "Nehrungen," coastal lagoons, "Bodden" bays, and beaches lie so closely together.
