Trips to Freiburg im Breisgau
The Counts of Zähringen established Freiburg in 1120. The city later fell into the hands of the Counts of Urach and became so wealthy over the years that in 1368 it bought its freedom and voluntarily placed itself under the protection of the House of Habsburg.
Marshal Vauban fortified the city in the 17th century, during which Freiburg was captured by various forces, including a brief French occupation. Since 1805, it has been part of Baden.
The city's location between Kaiserstuhl and Feldberg offers proximity to the scenic southern Black Forest.
Nearby is the large amusement park Europa-Park in Rust.
